I need to get a birth certificate extremely quick for a passport application. I live in another state than where I was born, but my mother still lives in the state. For time's sake, can I have her go down to the dept. of health and pick it up?? Are those passport services online any good or do they take your money and run?? Help! TIA.

  1. She... and you.... have to go to the State Capitol and pick up your birth certificate.  You must prove who you are, and your application will be reviewed, and they will decide.

If an illegal alien beat you to that birth certificate, I think you better plan to stay in town until you get it all straightened out.  And start today if you are smart.

  2. Maybe in Joel's State you have to do that, but in my State you can go to the Health Dept. & pay like $10 to get a copy of it. She will have to have your SS card.

  3. It may depend on where you are.  In Texas, the parents can show up at birth certificate office with the proper ids and request a certificate.   They can print it right away.   I have done it couple times.  It worth a try, fax a copy of your ids, and she need to bring her ids also.

  4. How come you don't check there website?

  5. Yes she can. Dept of Vital Statistics usually in the County Courthouse.  She will need identification herself to get it. In person mine was 18.00, over the Internet I paid 37.00 for my sons and got it in three days.
