Can my mum emigrate to australia?

i am a midwife moving to aussie. So is my sister who is a teacher. My parents want to move over but have score no points? They are both mid 50's. What can we do?

  3. as you are not yet a resident of australia you are not eligible to sponsor them under the parent migrant visa

  4. Take a look at the Contributary Parent Visa which they will probably be eligible for.  It is not cheap but worth a look.

  5. it is unlikely. also they wouldn't get a pension etc. my friend a nurse from wales tried and was not successful.

  6. Australia has several different visas appropriate for people with children settled in Australia.

    There are two main criteria is that an applicant for a parent visa must meet.

    1) they have more children in Australia than out of Australia (this is the balance of family test, and includes step children),

    2) The sponsoring child is permanently "settled" in Australia. This means they have lived in australia for at least 2 years and a permanent resident, or a citizen. The 2 year req is not set in stone, but you really need to speak to a migration agent to understand it.

    Do not automatically go for a contributory parent visa until you have considered the other less known and cheaper options. Again, speak to a migration agent, this is where it starts to get complicated.
