My daughter is 3 and a half years old she has all her shots. I currently live in Las Vegas due to school and my daughter is staying in california for the summer with my parents. They asked me for a noterized letter saying that they can have legal temporary custody of my daughter, I did get a letter noterized so everything is set...

since I am the mother and she is my daughter living with my parents can she go to school in california.

I hope she can because she has more friends in cali then she does here in vegas. she is very anxoius to go.

if any one can help me with helpful answers i will greatly appreciate it.

  1. If they are the guardians for this period of time, then they can

  2. Yes.  It shouldn't be a problem.

Now this may be a "new situation" for some of the schools.  Your parents will just need to provide them the required info and be patient as they figure it all out.  :-)  It's similar to a foster child's situation.  We know that foster children are often in the home temporarily but during that time the foster parents have legal guardianship and act as the parents... they enroll, they fill out the info and their signature is legal.

  3. As long as they have legal custody there should be no problem. I hope the custody papers say you get her back any time you want.

  4. Yes i believe with that letter they can enroll her. You basically gave them all rights to her temporarily. So She now lives with them and can go to school where they live.

  5. yeah..if you get a notarized letter for them to have temp legal custody..then all should be fine.

  6. You might have to say that she lives with your parents permanently. so she can go to school their.

  7. If you gave them that notorized letter, then yes they can enroll her.  By signing that document you gave them the right to make those decisions and act as her guardian.  The preschool probably won't have a problem with it, and if they do then you can just ask them what other information they need to accept her.
