Can my parents stop me from buying something with my own money?

I wanted to buy a xbox 360. My parents said no but its with my money. And if they can how can i get around it?

Unless your parents gave you the money.....

Maybe you can ask someone to give you a ride to the store or something. Do you have your own tv in your room?

Listen to their reason for not letting you have an X box.

They can.  Technically, in most states, anything a child has is technically the custodial property of the parent.

You can buy it, but don't think for one minute that they won't take it away.

Yea, I think they can, unfortunately, because, basically, your parents have the right to teach you how to handle your money 'well' , and, well, if they don't think it's a good thing to buy, basically, thats 'not handling your money well.'

But.... I can usually convince my parents to get me something, if I improve something, like my handwriting, or piano. Try bargaining with them, like, 'I'll raise my math scores if you let me by this. '

Depending on how old u are! Well if u r under 14 they can tell u wat not to buy, but if ur over then they can't

it isn't about the purchase, it is about what you can or cannot actually own.  

The rule in my house is that my kids can spend money on anything they want, but if the object is forbidden it goes strait to the dumpster and there is no retrieving it.  So they are free to throw their money away if they like, but my house my rules and they will live by them until they can fend for themselves.

wow thats crazy why they trip off what you buy with your money its not like they digging in their wallets for the money i say tell them hey this is my money i saved and worked hard for why do you have to tell me how to spend it when you dont work for it you are not buying drugs or anything with it its a game system what the hellll
