Hello, I moved out of my old apartment where I used to live with 2 other roomates, all of us signed the lease for 12 months. I moved out of the apt with 5 month still to go on the lease, I talked with my roomates and I payed one full month after I moved out so we could find another person to take my place. Before moving out I talked with the apartment complex office people (landlord) and they told me the only way they could take my name out is that the other 2 roomates should sign me out of the lease which they did not agree until we found someone else to take over my room.

Now every month they tell me that they cannot find a new roomate and they keep asking me to pay my share of the rent whcih I cannot and I told them the only thing I can do is keep searching for a new roomate for them.

I am in another lease paying my rent on time like I used to do with the other apartment, can they do anything against me legaly?

Thank you!

  1. Yes.  You signed the lease so you are liable for your portion of the rent until the lease ends.  They can sue you for it.

  2. Yes. Both they and the holders of the lease can take action against you.

  3. yes because you signed the lease and you're old roomates don't want to sign and take you off.
