I immigrated to Canada a few weeks back and am looking to buy a house but since i do not have a credit history in Canada, i won't be able to get my mortgage approved. I was wondering if my sister who lives in the US can cosign for my mortgage ?

  1. I'm not sure.  I looked it up.  Look at my source.  It might help.

  2. If you don't have a credit history in Canada, why would your sister?  Credit histories tend to be international.  If you can't get a mortgage there is more than credit history going on.

  3. Not sure... she may need a power of attorney from you giving her the right to sign legal documents for you... but in this case, I'm not sure...

  4. Canada is a $h1t hole. Why live their?

  5. nope

  6. only if your sister is canadian. my parents live in barbados but they cosigned for my husbands and my mortgage, only because they are canadian citizens, and are still paying taxes here etc.

ps to geek: at least we can spell!
