I was born in Mexico and my husband is an American citizen. Our son was born in the United States ... so can he obtain a dual citizenship? Do I have to be a Mexican citizen still before he can be granted it? Thanks.

  1. Ask Mexican Embassy or Consulate.

  2. He can be a dual citizen.

  3. Don't listen to the idiots that say "No... Mexico doesn't allow dual citizenship." That's a CROCK. Mexico doesn't allow a FOREIGNER to ever become a native - with the right to vote, etc. However, they DO allow dual citizenship. And only ONE parent need be a Mexican - and they do NOT have to reside in Mexico to do so.

Contact the Mexican Embassy (or Consulate if here in the states). You'll need to provide a copy of both YOUR birth certificate (proving you are of Mexican birth) and one for your son (proving he is descended from you). Of course, you'll have fees to pay as well.

  4. No. Mexico doesn't allow dual citizenship.
