Hi, my GCSE music teacher has given me a bad grade which is C (doesnt seem bad i no but i have always been given an A for music and its basically the lesson i care about lol) But he wrote under it that i havent been turning up to any of my piano lessons or any of my GCSE music lessons and thats why i got that grade for year 10 when first i stopped my piano lessons about 3 months ago and also i have turned up to almost all of the GCSE music lessons!

and i had to go see him about giving up the piano lessons at school and he said that he didnt believe that i did piano lessons at home now and that i have to start them again at school because it is unfair that i quit them at school after 4 years. and he even rang up my piano teacher to make sure that i have lessons and he doesnt even no him!

Do you think he is bullying me ? and also what do i do?

  1. Talk to your head of year, and get a letter from your parents or piano teacher telling him to mid his own. He sounds horrible! He can't force you to do piano lessons at school, and even if you don't have piano lessons why should that lower your grade? That's out of the lesson, and it should be course works etc. that effects your grade, not where your taught the piano! If you can play the piano and well, why does it matter if you have lessons and where you have them! He can't even give you a bad grade for not being there because for all he knows you could have been ill. Teachers are supposed to do the grades on the work you have done and on your behaviour in lessons. I wouldn't say he's bullying you from what you've said, but you may have another year with him- I don't know how they do it at your school but at ours you have the same teacher during your two GCSE years unless they leave- so I'd get it sorted out now.

    Good luck!

  2. No he is not allowed to make you start piano lessons at school again because it is your parents money not his so its not up to him.

I think you should talk to him about his comments that you didnt turn up to the lessons and ask him if you can see the registor to prove yourself that you have been to the lessons then ask him to higher your grade.

  3. he is allowed to do all that stuff to you.

  4. You need to get your parents to help you with this. If you can prove your still having piano lesson then that will help, if you've been skipping lessons with out good reason then you do have a problem. As music is important to you then you really need to get it sorted before next year.

  5. Though I hate to admit it he can do it even though it is very un-fair, especially you have just put all the blood sweat and tears into that lesson, sounds to me that he's your average back stabber.

  6. When you turn in the GCSE music lesson, have him write down in your assignment book or planning calendar that you turned it in on whatever date. You can say it's to help you keep track of your work and also to show your parents that you are definitely turning them in.

If he isn't giving you lessons, he can't evaluate your progress at all, so a C is a middle grade, another way of saying, "We assume she's learning and practicing, but we don't know." That might just be school policy. I think it's better that he talked to your instructor rather than pretending you don't have one. You can have your parents and piano instructor provide progress reports, maybe.

  7. poor thing,

but u cant really do anything about it then just put up with it until maybe next year coz then u might hav another teacher 4ur music lessons.

    but4 now cheer up!

  8. He may seem a little harsh but he is just doing his job. He cant make you do anything as far as making you retake lessons but he can give you any grade he wants.

Get used to it, you will find later in life that sometimes everything is a test & you have to prove yourself. It never helps to gripe because you dont get your way.

Just hang in there and show to him you have done everything in your power to earn a better grade.

  9. You sound like such a snob. 'i have turned up to almost all of the GCSE music lessons' Why didn't you go to them all and maybe he wouldn't feel such distrust towards you. In my school if you didn't go to class you would be dragged to class, or shoved in The Bothy(it was this poky place where you couldn't move without being told to and if you did you would most likely be beaten). I would be glad of a C in music because we didn't even have music. I'm a smart kid but because of my school i only got 2 grades c or above, you should be happy with how lucky you have it education wise.

  10. Bullying you dont know the meaning of the word, get a life.He would have not been doing his job had he now looked deep into your concerns over your lower marks.May have even looked  deeper as he knew you are mouthy Well you are attempting  to stir things up on the web

  11. I dont think he is bullying you but you do have to be accessed on practical and if you havent been there then he can give you a poor mark.

  12. Talk to your head of year about it.

  13. he cannot insist that you take lessons at school but he may need proof that you attend from your piano teacher as it is towards your exams. As for the attendance at school lessons, if you disagree ask to see the register and speak to you head of year/ form tutor about concerns in the discrepances (sp?)
