Question:

Can my tv support 1080p?

I recently bought a 37" HP HDTV. The specs said that the tv is a 720p tv. However, when reading the manual it said that the HDMI input can accept a 1080p source. When I connected my PS3 it it read the tv to have 720p and 1080p. The PS3 will only read what the tv allows. What does this mean?

  1. If your TV was exactly 720p then there would be no conversion done inside the TV when the PS3 outputed at 720p.  If you have the PS3 output at 1080p then the TV has to convert the signal into a 720p image. Whichever looks best is the setting you should use.

  2. That means your T.V. can process 1080p signals but can only display them in 720p so give an output of 720p for your PS3 it will look better trust me.
