Question:

Can my work do this?

I put in my two weeks notice on Friday. I don't work weekends, so I come into work on Monday (yesterday) and they've removed me from the schedule! It's not as though I am a bad employee, I've had the same job for over 3 years, I'm an assistant manager and I work exceptionally hard. My boss has just always been a bit insane, and chances are she's mad at me for quitting... But this sucks!?! Can they do this to me legally?

  1. Yes. Quite common not to have an employee work out a notice. Many employers choose not to have someone who has resigned stay with the company.

  2. Yes.  They are probably glad you quit because they are probably struggling to make payroll.  Your quitting probably helped them out so they got you off the the schedule as soon as possible.

  3. Yes. Do you really care? Obviously they didn't need a notice. 2 week notice is a courtesy to the employer.

  4. They certainly can do this.  As soon as you turn in your notice, they have every right to escort you back to your office for you to collect your personal items, and then escort you out of the building.

  5. Yes they can.

  6. yes they can. Most employees who put in for their two weeks do very poor work and the company will normally ask that they not come back in to work because of it. Technically the two weeks is no necessary unless they want you to train somebody else.
