  1. Yes it can. A prescription getting stronger is not a good thing. The problem with most optometrist is that they treat the problem, but they don't correct it. Behavioral Optometry is an unorthodox method for treating vision problems, and can actually improve your myopia.

  2. No matter what you do, you'll still need glasses.

  3. yes, but corrective lenses help.  I check my eyes at least yearly, and every time I go in my prescription gets stronger.

  4. Depending on your age, your myopia can progress some.  For example, most teenagers stop growing and their eyes stop changing at about age 20.  High degrees of myopia, over 7.00 or 8.00 tend to progress throughout your entire life, little by little.

I have had the same prescription,  -1.00 for over 30 years.

  5. Absolutely. I started out very mild and got progressively worse over the years. I actually think mine is still getting worse even though I'm now in my late 40s. I wear a stronger prescription than I did ten years ago. One thing I've wondered about is if those who develop this problem earlier in life tend to get worse than those who develop it later. I first noticed it when I was 10 years old and my daughter, who apparently inherited my problem, started wearing glasses when she was eight years old. She's now eighteen and is almost as bad as I am.
