  1. The only way that nail polish could cause a breathalyzer reading to fail, would be before an individual even provided a breath sample and that could ONLY happen if there was a really strong odor of nail polish, which MIGHT throw off the "air blank" test prior to a breath sample being obtained.

    As for nail polish actually throwing off the machine's ability to read a breath sample and provide a blood alcohol content reading, the answer would be no because a person would have had to ingested the nail polish.

    This would obviously cause greater problems than DWI, and the odor of nail polish is quite distinctive and couldn't be confused for the odor of an alcoholic beverage.


  2. If you drank it then you would have bigger problems than passing the breath analyzer.

    If you didn't drink it, then it cannot affect it.
