Can near constant bickering between a hetero male and female often mean sexual tension?

...I think it often does. Especailly if you work together and the second you meet you are thinking, "hmmm something is annoying about this clown..." Then you find that you can't seem to ever be perfectly friendly, and if ou are, it's just fake! lol

Most of the time... no.  Unless by bickering you mean teasing and play-fighting in which case the answer is a resounding yes.  

Some people simply have no chemistry of any kind - and simply do not like each other.

I would say so and so would my hubby...we spend lots of time bickering and still resolve things in the bed

Yes - but not always- my  Connexions line manager was a bone idol malodorous  old hippy.- who any sane person would vomit on  rather than sleep with.
