Can non-Italian speaking Gower be effective?

Bayonne fly-half Craig Gower was born and raised in Australia and doesn’t speak a word of Italian. This has led to concerns that the former rugby league player won’t be affective for the Azzurri during the forthcoming Six Nations. Can he still be influential and produce the goods? He certainly has the talent.
