Can non att customers buy an iphone at an apple retail store?

i have 2 things i need to ask,

1. where should i buy it? apple or att

2. if the apple store... can i get it even though i'm not an att customer?

You can buy from either source. I really like Apple's customer service if there is a problem. Only downside is that you will pay full retail since you aren't buying their service plan
