Question:

Can not connect to Internet with my wireless connection. Please help.?

I just bought a Netgear RangeMax Wireless Router and set it up. No problems there. Then I installed a Belkin Wireless G+ Notebook Card to use for my laptop. It worked fine but only at 54Mbps and was slower than my non-wireless connection. So I bought a Netgear RangeMax Wireless PC card thinking that the compatability would boost my connection alot and uninstalled the Belkin software. So far, I can not get it to connect to the Internet at all. It says that the card is connected off and on to the router and it is stuck in "acquiring network address" mode. What do I do now? Thanks.

  1. Wireless is slower than wired.. except in the case of Wireless N where you can connect up at around 108Mbs with a solid connection.

Wireless G is 54Mbs. You shouldn't notice a difference on the internet side because most connections are less than 10Mbs anyway. The only time you'll really see a difference in wireless and wired is when copying/moving files on your internet network.

As for the issue you're having, try updating to the latest drivers. There are utilities like the one found on http://www.pcdriverdoctor.com that can help with that. It will update ALL your drivers. It's a free download to scan.

  2. Uh... 54Mbs is about as good as it gets with wireless do to noise and interference

  3. maybe its the connection or satelite
