OK... my dog has gotten fleas... i flea bombed my apartment, flea bathed, and then i added a flea collar. also every month i give him prescribed flea medicine. It seemed liked the fleas were gone for awhile (maybe a week or so) and now they have come back!!! what should i do!?!?!

Like i said, i have a loft apartment, the downstairs is a living room and a small kitchen and upstairs is a small bedroom... all the same ceiling. No wall between upstairs and downstairs. I only did one flea fogger in the middle of the downstairs. Should i have done one downstairs and one upstairs? I want to help my dog!!! PLZ help thanks!!!

  1. I would take my dog to get a flea bath (kennel, vet etc..)not at home. While your dog is there do this bomb the place again use two this time. Advantix is a good brand to use as well. And keep an can of aersol of flea spray and spray once in awhile this should help. I would also talk to my vet too.

  2. i had been using frontline combo for my shih tzu puppy. it worked well and she didnt get fleas at all for a few months.

then we bought a labrador puppy and within 2 weeks our shih tzu was full of fleas again.

i asked our vet about it and she said even though i was using frontline combo if there are loads of fleas it cant kill them all instantly or if you have loads of fleas in your house you need to treat them as well as the dog.

my vet said you can buy cheap flea spray for your house but it doesnt work very well and best to get the stuff from the vets, it is more expensive £10 a can but one can does a 3 bed house (so ive been told)

before i used frontline combo i used to buy flea collers, flea tablets, spot on flea killer and my dog would still get fleas and it cost me more to get this stuff from my local pet shop than it was just to go to the vets for frontline combo.

  3. Sometimes switching the product you use for flea control can help. I usually use Frontline but last year it wasn't working. It was suggested I try another brand and it did help for a while. I asked if the fleas became immune to Frontline and was told that they don't but why else would it work?

You can also try some white vinegar in his rinse water after his bath. Apparently, fleas don't like to bite skin flavored with vinegar. Another thing you might try is CapStar. This is a product that is supposed to kill all stages of a flea's life. It is only good for about 3 days tho. Only long enough to bomb your apartment and to sprinkle some stuff on your grass to kill ticks and fleas.

Also, the stuff you hear about Dawn dishsoap killing fleas? It does work. Try it and see if you can catch a flea. Put it in a container and just watch. It is dead! One thing tho, when using Frontline, you have to wait 2 days after the bath or wait 2 days after applying the Frontline to give a bath or it won't work. Sometimes you get told this, and sometimes you don't.

I am still having a hard time with fleas this year, we moved last year and I really think that has something to do with it. Good luck. Sylvia

  4. You need to put flea bombs in every room, I used bob martin flea bombs and they worked. put all cutlery and food away, leave the house for 2+ hours including any pets. Then while your out side apply Frontline it works wonders.

  5. it depends what kind of anti flea thing you're using.

i used frontline, and it only lasted for about a week.

    then my vet recommended advantix.

and its been almost a month, i think 3 weeks, and no fleas.

    :D

just change the flea thing you're using
