I found out I was pregnant last month, I smoked a little bit like an idiot a few times this week. Like 4 times... I wasn't feeling good. Everyone around me doesn't mind so I convinced myself it was fine. I researched alot about it and found it convincing to not smoke it and convincing that its not harmful. Anyways thats not my question- I've read tons of blogs about that already.. I just want to know if its going to be found in my blood or urine at my next doctors appointment next monday.. I don't want social services involved or police.. I'm not some crack head I just smoked a little weed. I have the lab form here and it says its going to test me for UR (lab code) which is urinalysis, Routine (micro done if chemical positive) I googled and yahooed it 20 times and it says its testing for kidney and bladder problems. So will they test for drugs anyways??? Even though they drug testing box wasn't checked?

  1. They aren't going to do a drug test unless you give them reason to suspect something.  However, I hope you plan to stay clean for the remainer of your pregnancy, because your baby deserves the best shot for a normal development.  I'm not going to get into the whole drug thing, however- do keep in mind that when you inhale smoke you are not inhaling oxygen.   Oxygen your little passenger needs, and depends on you to provide.  Babies deprived of oxygen in development do have problems.  If you have a problem with nausea, it would be better for you to go the old fashioned route with candied ginger, ginger ale, and soda crackers.  If you are just looking for a reason to smoke, then admit that.  Whether other folks "mind" or not isn't the issue.  You have a right to live your life as you please, your baby has a right to the best start in life you can give it.  As a mom, that is your primary obligation.  You don't have a right to do as you please anymore, that went away when the pregnancy test was positive.  Do what you know is best for the baby, and you won't have to worry about social services or the police, or what the doctor is testing for.
