    Obama does not support infanticide. He opposed SB 1082 only until its language was changed to not include the word "abortion".

    Sadly, that never happened and the bill was shelved and was passed in 2005.

    Obama did not oppose the bill, he opposed the language in the 3rd clause (which btw the 3rd clause was completely redundant of the first 2 clauses, which he supported).

    Get your facts straight. Read the following:

    H.R 2175 (the federal Born Alive Infant Protection Act)

    SB 1082 (the Illinois state Born Alive Infant Protection Act)

    Then compare the language. Take particular note of the last clause in SB 1082. Notice that it is not present in H.R 2175. Also notice that other than that, the bills are identical. H.R 2175 passed without a single dissent from either house of congress.

    Obama filed an appeal in 2003 to change the language and have that 3rd clause removed from SB 1082. why? Because:

    1. it was redundant of the first 2 clauses

    2. Its use of the word "abortion" could later be used to degrade supreme court ruling over Roe V. Wade. Obama didn't want "abortion" to be in the bill, and I think that that is quite fair since the bill isn't actually about abortion.
