  1. Yep.  They do have a work schedule, but a cop is a cop 24/7.

  2. I'm sure it depends on State regulations, local department policy, where the cop is that sort of stuff. But here where I am from - the Answer is yes.  If they carry their gun they MUST have their badge, handcuffs - I don't know what the rules are on that - but in Texas it is ok for them to carry their weapon while off duty - again depending on the local department

  3. HR 218, also called the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, was signed into law by President Bush in 2004. It permits any law enforcement officer to carry a gun anywhere in the United States, at any time.

Handcuffs are highly recommended anytime you carry a gun. If you draw a gun, and the person complies, you need to handcuff him until another officer arrives.

  4. Yep.  Once they take the oath to serve and protect, it is usually a full time commitment.

  5. YEP I WAS IN CHARGE OF A NEW YEARS' EVE PARTY ONCE. IN THE MIDDLE OF IT, AN OFFICER DROPPED HIS GUN ON THE DANCE FLOOR. PARTY OVER. THEY SHOULD USE DISCRETION AND JUDGMENT WHEN DOING SO.

  6. well yea they do have a weapons permit being a cop. they dont always have to carry their badge but they can and i know a few that do. anybody can have handcuffs.

  7. NO THEY CANNOT TAKE CUFFS.

  8. yes they sure can. my brother in law is one can carries a gun everywhere

mostly cause he could run into someone he has arrested/written a ticket to at anytime and must have means of protection

  9. Most likely yes. They are still law enforcement officers, just not 'on-duty'. If they see a crime being committed while they are off duty, they still need to act as if they were on duty. But I'm sure police precincts have different rules they abide by.

  10. Oh you bet. All the time and every where. Even us retired cops can do the same.

  11. This is REQUIRED in many agencies and permitted in all.
