  1. if you dont want to spend any money atall. there are alot of free serives for uploading your backup media to external websites.

This gives you the bonus of the data definitely being safe, automatically being backed up on a schedule, and access to it from anywhere in the world.

Only bad thing is, depending on your internet connection it will be slowwwwww.

  2. You could buy an enclosure for your old hard drive which would make it plug and play, but as Digipics says, you will be better off with a portable hard drive. You would be able to take all of your music and pictures round to your mates.

  3. hi andrew

yes, you could easily set up a basic home network and use the pc as a server for the home network

then you could simply configure the network so you could save all data to that p.c and when needed move files and folders

basic home networking is quite easy and windows has wizards to set up home networks, alternatively check out this : http://www.geekgirls.com/windowsxp_home_...

                good luck mate !

  4. You'd be better off buying an external hard disk.  They have massive storage now, are much more reliable than an old computer and the prices keep falling all the time.  Get one with either USB2 or Firewire although you won't see much difference in speed.

  5. You'd be better to buy an external hard disk. You can buy now up to 200 GB so now you want about 20 to 30 GB.
