  1. Olive oil burns easier than vegetable oil, and vegetable oil is much cheaper.

  2. No way would I use olive oil for donuts. It imparts way to much savory flavor. They can be interchangeable for many things but not something like that.

    ******EDIT**********

What kinda twisted *#&$ would thumb this down?

  3. It's not really good for frying since it has a low smoke point and it smells when heated to high temperature. I also wouldn't suggest adding it to the dough since it has a very distinct flavor that doesn't belong in donuts or pirozhki.

My dad's mom is Greek and she uses olive oil for everything from body lotion to making bread, but even she uses vegetable oil for frying and for donuts.

  4. no.

olive oil is more expensive and can't be heated as high as vegetable oil.
