  1. without disclosing thir real identity? . . .

If you have to include a condition of any kind then it's not trustworthy.

the fact that we use a user name or made up id is a perfect example,

think of it, every body on any web site want's to save the world, or

wants to  start an online relationship or wants to seriously chat, and

yet look where everything on the internet eventually ends up . . .

quite frankly it's hard enough to trust any one in the real world let alone

on here, a true anything has to encorperate a true commitment, a real

giving of one self to another yeh right, in our wildest dreams . . .

Finally something has been invented that disproves that old saying,

with the internet one don't need to run, they can hide quite nicely . . .

  2. How do you define "friend"? My definition is someone I truly care about and who cares about me. One who sticks "closer than a brother" as Proverbs 18:24 says. Of course I would know such a persons true identity and they would know mine.

Having said that I must warn you against attempting to make real friends on the internet. It can be dangerous to reveal personal information to someone you are only acquainted with through the internet.

  3. I think if you eliminate the term, "true" from your definition, then, YES, one CAN be an online friend without disclosing his/her real identity.

Maybe you can re-define the online relationship as a "true anonymous" online relationship...then promise to NEVER ask to meet the other person?

  4. NO OF COURSE. Only an idiot will think it is.
