If that were the case - why does NASA spend so much money on pressurized (hint: this is the key word) space suits for astronauts when, by your assertion, they should be able to spacewalk with a simple SCUBA apparatus?

Because the suits are necessary to maintain a pressure around the body to keep body fluids in the liquid state.
