it has suddenly become important to have a VICE-Presidential candidate with LOTS of experience in Washington but it isn't important to have a Presidential candidate with experience in Washington.

I don't understand this new twist that the BO people are pushing today.

  1. They both have little experience in comparison to there running mates but can we start off by saying that the woman doesn't even have her masters degree! Shouldn't a potential United States president have a masters in law or politics?  She has a bachelors in journalism!!! Obama graduated from law school at HARVARD!!! Is this not a big deal to anyone?

  2. Obama has a great deal of experience but nobody is paying attention to it.

He had a successful legal career as an advocate for disadvantage peopole in Chicago.

He served as legislator in Illinois with a constituency larger that the entire population of the state of Alaska.

He won a term in the US Senate.

He ran a national campaign and beat the Clinton Political Machine in long tough primary campaign.

These are huge accomplishments for a young man.

Obama is a father and Palin is  A Mother.

McCain is an old man in ill health.  That is about it. .

  3. So he can actually get meaningful advice from the VP, unlike McCain. Maybe she can give him some fashion tips.

  4. Obama was just responding to critics about his lack of experience.

But after hearing Biden speak, he really was able to explain Obama and McCain's points of view very well, and destroyed McCain. The best line of the convention was 'What we need now is not a good soldier, but a good leader'. I mean wow, that was great.

The problem with Mis Congeniality, is that you could argue that Obama's experience since college gave him insight into the countries problems, Palin has nothing. Zero. She wins a beauty contest. She gets a BA in journalism but ends up on a fishing boat. She had enough friends to be elected city councilperson and mayor, but that doesn't take a whole lot of political know how in a town of 6,000. The one experience she did have was being on the ethics committee and doing some good work there. But her experience of Governor has been pretty lackluster - first approving the Bridge to Nowwhere, then canceling *after* the money stalled, and now because of some odd decisions she made she is being investigated by the Alaskan senate. Her act of giving everyone a check of 1,200 from the oil companies is also, frankly, a bizarre act for someone preparing to deal with the oil companies on a national scale.

But I don't want to criticize her for her positions, but just her experience. The reason why Obama went to school in the first place was motivated by helping others and doing good for society. Maybe he didn't maybe he is wrong, but it really shows the kind of life that has the kind of political understanding that is lacking in Palin. And obviously so.

  5. I thought that was interesting that the left wing liberal bias media has been asking that all day. Why isn't it important for the Presidential candidate for the DNC to have experience? Very amusing. The only thing you need to know about Obama is that he is going to raise all of our taxes.

    INCOME TAX

    MCCAIN (no changes)

    Single making 30K - tax $4,500

    Single making 50K - tax $12,500

    Single making 75K - tax $18,750

    Married making 60K- tax $9,000

    Married making 75K - tax $18,750

    Married making 125K - tax $31,250

    OBAMA

    (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)

    Single making 30K - tax $8,400

    Single making 50K - tax $14,000

    Single making 75K - tax $23,250

    Married making 60K - tax $16,800

    Married making 75K - tax $21,000

    Married making 125K - tax $38,750

  7. Trust me, when it comes to the Obots, their candidate is...

    O-nly

    B-abble

    A-nd

    M-inimal

    A-ccomplishments

  8. it doesnt really matter. the goal of the obama ticket remains the same either way.

throw the phrase "hardworking americans" in the speech as much as possible..and no one will know the difference...

  9. It is called, it does not apply to me. If I can, I will show how much inexperience you have under your belt, but it doesn't apply to me. I can accuse you of doing the same thing for 26 years in Washington, but don't look at my VP choice who was in Washington 30 years. If you don't vote for me you are a racist, even though the minister of my church, who is my friend, consultant, mentor, and spiritual advisor makes racist comments all the time.

And no experience for Palin? She has been a mayor and a governor, She has been the C in C for Alaska National Guard, which by the way is more militray experience than either Obama or Biden. Bill Ayers is the only one affiliated with the Obama team with any military experience, and that was as a terrorist against our own country. Obama can sure pick winners to stand with him!

It is hypocritical to the max, which is how most of Washington works, which oddly enough, is no change at all!

  10. I think people are just reacting to the hypocrisy.  The republican's main argument against Obama was his "lack of experience" and then they picked a VP candidate with even LESS experience.  It just doesn't make sense.

  11. Because the VP is one heartbeat away from the presidency. It might be nice to have a potential president who can walk and chew gum at the same time!

  12. To me experience doesn't guarantee a success.

Abraham Lincoln served just one term in the US House of Representatives and eight years as a state representative, he is considered one of the greatest Presidents in US History.  Imagine him trying to run today, an relatively unknown member of our Congress from Illinois who was known for his great oratory skills...

Looking back at the men who have run for and served as POTUS, Barack Obama isn't really that inexperienced.  Two terms in the Ill State Senate and one in the US Senate, he's had more experience than some past Presidents, some of them pretty good Presidents.

The truth is experience is not a good measure for success in the least, we've had good Presidents with little of what we call experience, and awful Presidents who had a lot of experience.

Go through this and see where the greats and not-so-greats stand on experience.

I just don't understand how Senate experience was so important to the GOP, but in an instant they turned a blind eye when McCain chooses a VP with none whatsoever.

    Julie H- Quit lying.

  13. The libs are just ticked off that McCain came out on top he's obviously the smarter guy!!

  14. It's not 'all the sudden'. Obama picked Biden because he is getting attacked on his experience. McCain picked young woman because he wants to deal with age issue and his image of being closely associated with old Bush policies. This is McCain's way of trying to distance himself from old Bush policies and bring new face and new voice to his campaign.

You've never seen elections and other past campaigns. These moves are highly calculated to win voters. This is not twist its just typical campaign moves.

  15. I honestly don't think palin has much experience. here's what we know about her:

-even though no one has ever heard of her she apparently has been the governor of alaska for less than 2 years

-she doesn't think polar bears should be endangered

    -her husband is a fisherman

-she was the runner up for miss alaska in 1984

-she is miss (some town that starts with a w)

-she may be the next vp of the usa

  16. i'm just as surprised as you are.  Obama has a set of rules, but this running-mate has none. he can't even talk straight anymore.  What are we gonna do. mccain doesn't need to become President. May God Bless Us All in our time of need.

  17. its not the experience that matters, its the policy Obama stands for that matters, his solution to iraq, oil, healthcare, etc, etc, etc

the running mate is simply there because he have experience about how to execute his plans and ensure the public supports his plan, i mean, every good plan needs good execution to succeed,  the running mate have the experience to execute the plans, and together they can hopefully make our country better.

  18. The Obama's people have perfected their misogynist attacks in the primaries.  They did not even wait a day.  They have come out attacking Ms. Palin already!  The PUMA girls can see that and will not forget in the voting booth.

  19. It's just the ironic idea that McCain would choose someone with little or no experience when that's his biggest argument against Obama. This lady will be one heartbeat away from the Presidency if he wins. He just shot himself in the foot by picking her.

  20. Obama has the leadership ability to bring people together and Biden has the experience, a perfect team.

    OBAMA/BIDEN '08!

  21. Well, until the Bush-Cheney presidency, VP's didn't really have to do much except for show up at funerals and look pretty. Experience is an important factor in any job as important as President of the USA. The new twist in my opinion, is more of a mockery. John McCain constantly criticized Obama's "lack of experience," but picked an incredibly inexperienced WOMAN to try to win over Hillary supporters. I guess he's a bit desperate, since he can't seem to get 10,000 people to listen to him speak while Obama easily gathered a crowd 8 times that size. Talking about that woman's inexperience is just a way of trying to point out the obvious. "Senator McCain, how is it that you can criticize Barack Obama's inexperience, when you yourself (out of desperation for support) pick an unknown, inexperienced Vice President?"

If you look throughout history, some of the most inexperienced Presidents were the best. And history shows that even a great deal of experience doesn't change the fact that some people are douche bag leaders.

  22. It was your party cried about his lack of experience, then your candidate picks this person that has NO experience.

How would you feel if she is President?

  23. To Julie H:

ADDED FOR JULIE H: your tax information is WRONG.

People making less than 112,000/yr will pay less in taxes than now and less than in McCains plans. Those making 112k to about 600k / yr will still save some or break even. ONLY people making OVER 600K/yr will pay more in taxes.

McCains plan give the greatest tax break to people who make over 2 million /yr.

  24. I don't think they can because there ain't any out there.

  25. VOTE OBAMA, IF YOU WANT AMERICA TO KEEP ON RUNNIN, AND IF YOU WANT A BETTER TMRW....

VOTE MCCAIN, AND WE ARE ALL SCREWED.

    OBAMA 08

  26. You've been watching too much faux news. He hasn't said anything of the sort. He said one thing...that the experience issue is off the table now. hannity and crew have been hounding this all day, saying that Obama is calling Palin's experience into question.

  27. I don't understand how 8 years in the Illinois state senate and 3 years in the US senate equates to no experience in Washington?

Palin has been Alaska governor for less than two years. Yes, that is an executive position, but it's an executive position in a state w/a population less than 15 US cities.

I think Democrats big point is McCain cannot use the experience card anymore. It's over.

Plus, McCain is 72 years old and has had 4 bouts with skin cancer. He even said himself a few months ago that given his age he needed to carefully consider his VP pick heaven forbid something were to happen. This does not seem like the wisest choice. I don't even care about the woman thing even though I think it was a gimmick. Can you tell me this was the most qualified Republican woman???
