The alienware is better for most everything.  It has the option of installing two graphics cards as well.  Even with one graphics card installed, it will still outperform the sony (in games and other graphics intensive applications).  The processor in the alienware (depending on which processor you get) can also be much faster than the sony.  I would get the alienware and upgrade it alittle if money is not an issue.  The sony will run that fine, and is alittle cheaper, but if you want or need a really good graphics card than go with the alienware.
