My rottie played all day with one of those tug of war ropes and chewed through some of the strings. Can these cause an obstruction? She vomited today, pooped but now she pooped only a couple of drops.

  1. yes they can. One of my pits ate part of hers and I had to help her p**p. I had to gently pull out the string that was hanging out of her butt. I no longer buy them any ropes, don't want to do that again.

If your dog doesn't p**p normally soon take her to the vet.

  2. Yes, the threads can cause an obstruction or even constrict and cut off blood flow to part of the intestine, resulting in part of it dying.  Rope toys are only suitable for supervised play and dogs who don't eat them.  A visit to the vet today would be in order, this is an emergency.  These types of obstructions need to be surgically removed if that is what the problem is, an X-ray should confirm if that is the case or not.
