  1. It pains me to see parents mother-henning young men(I'm assuming you're a dude) to death.  Of course boxing kills braincells.  But every time you knock your head, you kill braincells.  Every time you drink some booze you kill braincells.  It's just a matter of how many and susceptibility.  You only use 10% of your brain for a reason.  If you used 100%, you could hit your head and somehow forget how to swallow food. 2 fights won't get you debilitated.  It's usually guys that do it from age 12 that have over 100 amateur fights and 40 pro fights that end up punchy.  But there are a lot of guys that did that and have no trouble whatsoever.  Some actual boxers that post on this board believe that years of sparring is what does most of the damage.

Ask your parents about the alcohol they consume, and they better stop, because that kills braincells.  Make sure they wear a crash helmet 24 hours a day, because they could bump their head and get braindamaged.

You're not a porcelian doll, you're not going to be irreparably damaged from a couple fights.  On the plus side, learning a martial art makes you stronger in ways that you're not aware of...and it'll carry you through the rest of your life.  Big challenges are not as daunting to a man that has been through a martial art.  But a mother-henned-to-death man, well, he's just scared of everything, ends up marrying some bitter, overbearing banshee and lives out the rest of his life as a hen-pecked beta male that's always last picked for dodgeball.

  2. It only takes one well placed hit to put you in a coma for the rest of your life.

  3. yes i got a concussion off three rounds and i won!!!

  4. yes it can

  5. dude it can damage u...but it depends how hard and if its in the head...my couzins a ex-boxer and he was n the paper...but he is actually still good and not realy brain damaged like at all....so it depends

  6. h**l yes

  7. Any heavy blow to the head causes some brain damage.

  8. Boxing get's a bad rap. With todays up to date standards, rules, ect boxing become a much more safter sport. In fact, football, rock climbing, sky diving, ect posses as much if not more of a risk.

It is very hard to get seriously hurt in amatauer because of the head gear and ref's halting if a boxer is being out-classed or taking unneccissary amount of hits to the head.

Pro boxing get's a bad rap because of boxers dieing in the ring, however most of these deaths occure in other countries, with lax medical and safety prodcures. In most cases, these fighters are weight drained and fight one fight after another, usually losing, and simply getting paid to be human punching bags

  9. there is always a risk of injury. if you really want to do this you first have to be prepared to work harder than you ever have in your entire life. When you join a boxing gym you need to make sure you find a good boxing gym that cares about your safety. also you can look up the statistics on line that show how other sports besides boxing can prove to in fact be much more dangerous in terms of injuries and death. take a look at cheer leading for example. not a sport you would expect to find a lot of injuries but in fact it is and there have even been deaths from it as well. so just do your H.W. on the statistics that will help your argument and also you gotta tell them what will boxing help you in your life? good luck

  10. Yep!!!!!! It could happen in any match.

  11. yes it is possible but unlikely in amateur fights head gear is worn and there are standing 8 counts but no sport is completely safe all contact sports have some danger even baseball with no contact

boxed 5 years from age 8-12

  12. only if you get really messed up, very few people get real brain damage from amateur fights. You need to give them numbers and show that its safe. Let them know that you would wear headgear (which is required) and that a referee wouldn't let you get beat up too badly. good luck its a great sport.

  13. Any  blow  to  the  head  can  cause  a  concussion .

It   can  happen  at   Any   time   or   to  anyone .

And  amateurs   would  be  more  likely  to  take  a hit  because  they  are  the  Least  skilled  !

But   if   you  must  convince  them ,  buy  an  insurance  policy  that  will  pay  for  your  care  if   you  become  an  invalid .

( So  they  won't  have  to  be  taking  care  of  you  at  like  30  when  you're  still  a  veggie )
