  1. Depending on which model,

The Newer SP models (K model aircrafts) have no prohibition against slipping, and this is because the flaps only go to 30 degrees.

The older models, have a 40 degree flap setting which a side slip was prohibited with any flap setting greater than 30.

  2. the sp has no prohibition against slips.

  3. You ask a great question and the answer is that it is NOT reccomended to use more than 20 degrees of flaps when doing a slip to get down quicker to the field.

However, when doing a slip into a crosswind, it is ok, but some oscilation may occur, which should not impact safety.

For the SP, while sideslips are allowed with flaps, the POH says the following... "Steep slips should be avoided with flap settings greater than 20 degrees due to a slight tendancy for the elevator to oscillate under certain combinations of airspeed, sideslip angle, and center of gravity loadings.  (Section 4- Landing)

On the next page, 4-32 (May '00 revision) in discussing crosswind landings it says "If flap settings greater than 20 degrees are used in sideslips with full rudder deflection, some elevator oscillation may be felt at normal approach speeds.  However this does not affect control of the airplane."

I hope this answers your question and happy flying!
