I have part of my check invested into the Target stock and the Stable Fund. But this not actual stock, I have no certificate. I was wondering since i work at Target and part of my paycheck is vested in the company can I also buy Wal-mart stock as well? Is that conflict of interest? Or does COI only apply to employment?

  1. You are free to buy stock in any company you wish.  COI only applies to employment, but I don't think Target would have a COI restriction for it's employees.

  2. you can check with personnel to find out the exact rules of the policy, it is not uncommon for target employees to be invested in Wal-Mart as Wal-mart is one of the Dow Jones industrial, very widely  traded and a component in many mutual funds

  3. i dont see why not i dont see why they would look into or fire you for it they cant judge you for smart investments
