I have a document that was created in openoffice and I would like to send it to someone so that they can view it in Microsoft Word. Is that possible. I know that I can save the doc as a Word file. Is that all I would have to do before emailing it?

  1. Yes as long as you "Save as" "Word 97-2003" or ".doc" as the Save Dialog box indicates. By default, OpenOffice will save documents in the ".odt" (did I get that right) format...which MS-Word (any edition) can't open.

  2. yes, that's it because it's in the correct format unless the other person is using an old copy of word.

  3. Set the "Save" feature to Microsoft, so your files are aways compatible.

    In OpenOffice

    • Click Tools

    • Click Options

    • Click Load/Save

    Select Microsoft Office

    • Check all the S boxes.

    • Click OK

    .

  4. Yes

  5. Yep, unless there's insane formatting, you're gtg.

In fact, there's a super goofy bug (non csv) where if your doc is crashing in OO format (it has to be a petty complex doc to do this), save it as a Word doc, then resave as a OO doc, and it'll work.
