Can our child have a U.K passport?

Our child born in the USA he is a US citizen so is his dad

Im British green card holder etc

Our child was not registered in the U.K

Does he have to be registered at a British consulate to be granted a U.K Passport

The British Embassy said I may have problems obtaining a passport if he is not registered at a U.K consulate..........any advice???????????????

  1. If you are born to a parent who was born in the UK you can get a UK passport.

    This site has what the eligibility requirements are for someone to get a UK passport.


  2. To have a UK passport you have to be a UK citizen.

    You can get him dual citizenship. That would be really good for him if you live between both countries and if he is mainly brought up here. Then one day if he chooses to stay in the UK he won't have any of the trouble you are having now.
