Can paddletail newt and Plecostomus live in the same tank?

The paddletail newt and the plecostomus are about the same length, but I am concern that they will not be able to coexist. The newt is used to living with a baby shrimp and small guppy fishes, which he does not bother.

  1. If your newt is peaceful, you won't have a problem with the plec. Make sure your tank is big enough - a plec can easily reach a foot in length, so you should have a minimum 50 gallon tank for both; a 75 gallon would be better.

Newt temperatures should ideally be below 70 degrees, while the plec is best in mid 70's; that would be your only problem.
