Question:

Can paint or Pinto horses have striped hooves?

I am Doing A coloring contest for breyer and the one i am entering is a black and white paint/pinto and i'm not sure if they can have striped hooves so can someone help me on this?

  1. Yes....especially if they have ermine spots.


  2. ANY breed that has a white leg can have a stripped hoof on that leg. My mule that has four white socks has four stripped hooves.

    The only time a Stripped hoof is considered an appaloosa spotting characteristic is when it is associate with a solid darker. (non white) leg.

    so if you are going to paint a stripped hoof on any breed except one with appaloosa spotting, then paint it on a white marked leg.

  3. They often have striped hooves, especially if they have bear paws (little dots of color on white feet).  Where the dots touch the hoof the hoof will be dark.  Where there or no dots touching the hoof the hoof will be white.

  4. yes they can, the paint I'm leasing is a tobiano and she has white hooves with a few black stripes here and there. One thick one on her front left. And possibly one or two more on the others. Good LUCK!

  7. im sure any horse can have striped hooves. my horse does. she is mostly black/dark brown with some white

  8. Yes any breed can have them so its not anything bad, you have a pretty paint with pretty hooves.

  10. Yes.  My pinto pony has 2 black feet, one white foot, and one striped foot.  All four of his lower legs are white.

  11. usually if leg is dark with white, the hoofs will match the hair.  so yes.
