  1. yes on their first move but not first move of the game


  2. Like all other chess pieces, pawns can capture other pieces from their "home position" (row 2 for white, row 7 for black pawns) if the opportunity presents itself...  which is a rare occurrence.

    I've never seen a rule anywhere saying they can't.

  8. No, they can't. Theoretically they could, but with the standard board layout the pawns are never within range of an enemy piece on their owner's first turn.

    If you mean the first move for that pawn rather tha the first move for that player, then yes I believe they can.
