  1. I believe Thais are highly racists. So are most people in the world, the Thais just don't hide it as well. Farang is very often derrogative, and all those who are saying that it isn't are in denial ....they have a superiority complex which actually means they feel insecure.

However, I do love the Thais, and have dedicated my life to helping them find true joy.

  2. Bargaining is an expected thing in Thailand and many other countries.

you would be naive to pay the asking price, but probably many white skinned people are.

  3. Farang means foreigner.

I dont think most Thais have a problem with us caucasians. They are a very proud nation though.

  4. They are not racist, they just wanna make some extra bucks and you are supposed to bargain for everything.

    Also "Farang" means foreigner.

  5. That rediculous! There are small group of discrimination but not by the colour. But by thier behavior.

If my memory is correct "The first european country that came to Thailand long time before was from FRANCE And as you can hear anywhere. The accent of thai people espacially in previous time..They can't do the R ...and that's why they say FA-Rang instead.

We call colour people Black yes but no mean of discrimination in most place just easy to express that way.

  6. Farang is also the Thai word for guava fruit, but when used to denote a foreigner is not usually used in an offensive manner, just like the word "foreigner" is basically a neutral word and in itself is not offensive. If a Thai person were to see you eating guava, they might get a little chuckle, a farang eating a farang is amusing to some Thais. I can't say I like the practice of two-tiered pricing, but I can understand it and more people don't practice it than do and it never hurts to settle on a price before you buy. Sure there are racists in Thailand, but to say people that charge you more are racists because you have white skin is a falsehood, they charge every farang more no what the color of their skin is. If you want to call them choco's, go ahead, no one will know what you're talking about anyhow.

  7. farang is a  word for white european and white american, sometimes it is used negatively but usually its a neutral word, as far as over pricing goes learn to barter with a smile and you'll get some real bargains.

  8. You can call them Mamuang. It means mango. A good laugh.

Relee: I think the first westerner ever to visit Thailand were Protugese and Greek in Sukhothai period. The word Farang may be derived from France or Francaise. However, Farang may also referred to a bunch of I think primitive drifters, cattle raisers in the old european days.

  9. there not rasist i went to thailand last month and they treated me pretty well

  10. of course we overcharge you guys, you make more money than we do, so quite naturally you can afford to pay more than we can.

it's called BUSINESS, friend. BARGAIN. it's THAILAND.

and yes, we call you farangs, it's just a normal term that means "westerner" - it just happens to be a synonym for guava.

god you just sound so bitter and everything, it makes me laugh how you can't even write a grammatically correct question.

we're not racists. we just don't appreciate stupidity.

  11. There not racists there cool

  12. So what are you trying to say? Did you get cheated on something here?  What is your point, and who is the racist you or them?

  13. People of all races are racists. There are hostilities even between groups within races. It's not even to do with race. Whites shouldn't start calling other people racists - they should just stop calling themselves racists. If every race does it, nobody should be singled out.

  14. I don't think so.

But many people from Bangkok discriminate against people from Isan and call them black which I find curious because I don't see the difference.

And I'm really sure the Thais are very thankful for the Foreigners coming to Thailand to teach them about joy (christian missionaries). How many boys are getting trained as we speak.

Edit: Don't ever call a Thai a cow or a buffalo or puffalo, them's fightin words. Calling them a mango might open a dialogue you really want to avoid also.

Oh the negative (thumbs down) are from lovers who can make the grade (small thumbs you know).
