Can people actually lose some weight with wii fit?

I've been thinking and there's not too many ways to get exercise here in the winter because it gets so cold. Even to go out on a walk I have to get all bundled up and it's still not as much fun when it's cold and not as pretty. I'm not old enough to go to a gym besides the closest one kind of far away. I was thinking maybe getting wii fit and staying in shape with it. I looked online at the preview and actually it doesn't look like it is that much of a workout. It looks like you're just moving a little bit on it. So does it really work? Or is it just more fun?

  1. of course, it is like regular home exercise but you are playing a game, but you have to use it every day like any other exercise program. and eat properly.

    It isn't any better than any other home exercise, but if you are more likely to use it because it is fun than you should definitely go for it

I doubt very much that you are going to see a significant amount of weight loss just by playing Wii Fit.  It would probably be more fun than exercise.  If you want to get some cardio, try Dance Dance Revolution.  They have it for Wii, and if you get into some of the harder songs on a really difficult level, you can really work up a sweat.  Hope this helped!

  3. Well, With a workout and eating healthy will work.

    Since you cant go to the gym then take a jog outside or play sports, In the winter this game could be helpful.

    Even though it doesnt seem much, it is better then sitting there.

    It really helps tone the body and get a good posture. The mini games are fun too.  

  4. Great question! I wanna buy one but hubby says they are a gimmick, and wont lose weight! Just need healthy food and lots of excercise at the gym- yawn!!

    If you want to burn 1/2 as much but have fun, go ahead and buy it

  6. Calorie burning + decreased caloric intake = weight loss

    No matter how you burn the calories, burning more calories and eating less food will cause you to lose weight. It doesn't matter whether you burn 300 calories by using Wii Fit, running, or vacuuming...300 calories is 300 calories. You'd probably burn more calories quicker by running than by using Wii Fit, but Wii Fit will still burn calories.

    If you use your Wii Fit daily and cut a few hundred calories from your diet (visit www.mypyramidtracker.gov to get an idea of how many calories you need), there's a decent chance that you'll lose some weight...especially if you're new to exercise.

  8. my sister just got a Wii and i had a go on it for like an hour on the olympic games and my arms and abs were burning and i work out a fair bit aswell so i say h**l yeh, the extreamly entertaining way to lose weight
