Can people bring roaches to someones home from their clothing or purse?

We never had roaches in our house. Once a month this friend visits us and later on (after she has gone) we see a roach appear right in the area where she has sat. Every month she sits in a different location.

Disgusted and fumigating (literally and figuratively) pun intended. ha ha

Should we ask her politely not to come back?

  1. Roaches will be here when we're all dead and gone. It could be that they are coming into your house on there on and it's not worth losing a friend over. I spray my house twice a year with Bengal. Last week I had relatives visiting and my house was spotless. All of a sudden a huge roach walked across the room. If you have a lot of trees then you will get the big roaches. I say don't hurt your friend's feelings over something that she probably didn't do anyway.

  2. Yes that can happen. However do you really think that a roach would stay in one spot for that long? No, not when it has a whole new world to discover. I think that these roaches are probably yours! Regardless of how they got there they are there now. They can come in from outdoors just as easily.  Do you want to ruin your friendship? Maybe your house gave her the roaches.

  3. yes ! if she steps on them and their eggs get in the threads of her souls from her shoes she could bring them in also in her clothing and purse ! i would tell her its your bingo night or card playing night or you have an appointment to be elseware ! good luck !

  4. Bugs can ride on clothing but I highly doubt your friend would bring in an entire couch full of roaches.

It could be your own doing...you accidentally bring in larvae from the outside (roaches prefer dark, moist areas) so you guys bringing in roaches is as likely as anyone else bringing in roaches.

  5. It is possible your friend is bringing in roaches.  It's also possible, and more likely, that you're bringing them in inside your grocery bags.  Either way, I wouldn't risk offending your friend by telling them they're not welcome in your home.  Instead, say that you've discovered roaches in your home, and you don't want any visitors, until you resolve the problem.  (Because you know they can travel from your home to other places.)  At this time, your friend will either confess to having a roach infestation at home, or be horrified.  Otherwise, you could make a joke out of the fact that you always find roaches in every place they've sat when they were visiting.

Use enough insect foggers for the square footage of your home, and be sure to buy the stuff that also prevents eggs from hatching.  As a temporary measure, you probably should unload your grocery bags outside, and shake each item before bringing it inside.

  6. I don't now what I'd tell her.  If she is a friend, somehow you could politely say what is happening and tell her, you like her as a friend but not the friends she's bringing to your house.

  7. i highly doubt she is bringing in roaches- unless she is doing it on purpose.

maybe her sitting down happens to disturb where they are at in your house and thats why they come out.

  8. They can be spreaded that way! I have seen it done. But it wasn*t me spreading it! Lol!!  I had a friend that me and my son went out to eat with and she had them so bad that they were even in her car!  One crawled out of her purse at the Restaurant we were eating at! It was gross!  Lol!!  :)
