Can people change? Or do we stay the same!?

Question

Or do we stay relatively the same. Can an unfaithful person become loyal, an angry person peaceful or even an easygoing person more bitter? What are your views and experiences? What makes us change or stay the same?

Mmm, i don't think we change a lot. We can pretend to change, we can moderate ourself, we can act like we changed, but i don't think we change  a lot.

Change is a very slow process for people, you can't change day by day, it takes a lot of time and effort, but even if the surface of a person can change, the basis remains the same

I think we change through the years but not 100 %.  Best predictor of future behavior is past behavior...  We are creatures of habit...

Circumstances or certain events can contribute to people changing.

At some points, yes people change. It's part of our free will.

I think Experience plays a major role in change.

I don't feel I've changed much over the last 4 years or so, but then I look at the way I was and the friends I had then, and compare, and I definitely wouldn't be friends with those people, anymore. I guess it's harder to discern qualities or changes in yourself than it is in another. I think, though, that even people i know that have changed still show their "old faces," so there is almost an impermanence to those changes...

Only individuals truly willing to change can change. Just as you cannot help someone who does not wish to be helped. It is all about power of the mind.

In the late Randy Pausch's lecture called "The Last Lecture" he talks about people changing. He said:

Find the best in everybody. One of the things that Jon Snoddy as I said told me, is that you might

have to wait a long time, sometimes years, but people will show you their good side. Just keep

waiting no matter how long it takes. No one is all evil. Everybody has a good side, just keep waiting,

it will come out.

I am not in true agreement about no-one being evil but the general gist is there.

People are always changing, it's a result of the human perception of time.

Some people delude themselves into believing otherwise though.

The changes in a person can be attributed to the incidents which has affected him a lot in the deep self. For example , if  a person is always

angry and suddenly he loses something big due to angriness, he tries to change himself as a peaceful person. So, the circumstances and conditions change man a lot. But , the foundation in the early stages of a

man keeps his  conscience same.
