Ok, me and my friend accidently connected to the internet (It was my own connection don't worry, it's just my step-dad blocked me from going on it I don't know how, the WEP was still in and the internet card was still in), on my laptop. We've just got a new router, could the new router be letting me in, and my old one was blocking me?

It connected to the itnernet though a Norton Internet Security thing (It's out of date, came free with the laptop) popped up and said do you want to join this network. I quickly switched off the computer.

Can people check who's using the router, and can people find out easily if I sneakily go on every so often?

Also, does it tell which sites i've been on and when i've been on, or does the logs on which computers which have been on go off when you turn off the computer.

  1. A router will usually have a logging function, and if turned on then it can be read and you can see the mac and/or ip address of the computer that connected to it.  Also, how are you posting the question if you're not allowed on the internet?
