Can people find you when you downlaod off P2P programs?

I was trying to download this song, it had one copy and the person kept cancelling it, so I msged them and etc etc we ended up having a big insult fight back and forth that ended with him saying he's going to find me and do **** to me. Can he find me because I downloaded something off him on a P2P program? Or is it anonymous.

It's almost impossible for an average person to find you just knowing your IP address at a given period of time.

Let me explain. The only hard info he has on you is your IP address.

IP belongs to your internet provider company. And of course they won't release any information to an average joe.

Now, if it's government that's looking for you, that's a different story :)

It's almost completely anonymous. The most that person could do would be find out what region of your state you live in (based on your IP address), but that's about it. Your name and address aren't revealed over the internet unless you give it up yourself.

Most people who talk that big on the internet are insecure nerds or people who have emotisitcal anger issues and can't let them out in the real world or are to afraid to, so they vent on the computer thinking they are tough ****.

He isn't going to be able to track you down and gun you down or rape you. And much less even be a threat to you. And even if he could find out where you live, he'd have to get the money, and waste it to travel there then find your house. And with gas as high as it is these days its highly unlikely your life is in any danger.

But I would advise legally purchasing songs in the future, to avoid this kind of conflict with those types of insecure people.

yes, and many have already been caught. I would suggest purchasing the songs or else listening to the radio and record it through audacity when it comes on but P2P is asking to get caught.
