  1. yes,we can.it`s harder for brazilians to understand the portuguese than the contrary.but if the speak slowly i can understand.   and as you get accustomed to listen to them,it gets easier to understand.

  2. Yes.  Brazilians think the Portuguese are stupid.  They make jokes about them kind of like Polish jokes are made in the USA and Irish jokes in the UK.  Honestly if you listen to a Portuguese person speak it does sound a little foolish, (I am Brazilian).

  3. it's still portuguese so while the little things that are different to them will sound wrong they'll know what you're talking about

  4. they can easily understand u

  5. It's slightly diffrent but there isn't major proplems its like a mexican talking to a spain, little diffrent not much though

  6. Hi Victor,

I'm Brazilian (from Sao Paulo City) and my fiance is Portuguese (from Lisbon). We have no problems of communicating with each other at all.  So don't worry about that, because it's still the same language. Of course there's some different idiomatic expressions between the Brazilian Portuguese and the Portuguese from Portugal, as well as the American English compared to the British English.

    Good luck in your studies.
