    Getting in shape is part of the process of learning gymnastics.

  3. It's possible, but he has to be REALLY strong and have REALLY good balance and muscle endurance.  Easier and safer route is to work out to lose weight and gain strength before engaging in gymnastics.

    That being said I wouldnt teach your little brother, i would get some professional instructor and get him into a fitness routine because he will need very strong plyometric ability and a strong core to pull off moves safely
