Can people really make the boxing punch sounds like in cartoons and movies?

I was watching this anime, and the main character started talking about how his punch had a different sound than another character's punch. I just wanted to know if really good boxers actually do make some kinda noise when punching. I mean, I box and there is nothing when I punch in different ways. I even tried copying what the anime character did, but nothing. Haha, this probably sounds ridiculous.

I grunt when I throw a punch and when I get into a heated exchange my grunts go into animalistic screams and yells.
