Can people scam you in a car accident?

I accidentally hit the rear of the car in front of me, however, no damage has done. They left after checking the car if there is damage done. It was an accident, but I really feel bad because of teh to kids at the back of the car. I asked them if they are ok. While I was in the car and waiting for them to ask for my information, they left because there is no damage done. However, I am just worried if they can sue me back for anything. I am just wondering if they can make a scam and make it look like I hit and run, which I did not. I wanted to give them my cel number but it was too late because of the traffic I wasn't able to catch up to them

  1. You should have called the police.  Now, you should notify your insurance company of the accident in case they receive a claim from the other party some day.  Protect yourself !  Always call the police, always notify your insurance company.  ALWAYS!

  2. If they don't have your contact information, I very much doubt they can scam you.

  3. Never say never....I would contact the police in that jurisdiction and file an over the counter report if they allow it, if not hopefully they'll just take an incident report.  If they were what's called a 'swoop & squat' group, then they took your license plate number down.

Look at the circumstances, did these kids seems on the up & up to you? Were they underage?  I ask this because when they go home and tell their parents, that's when a situation occurs.

Hopefully nothing becomes of it, yet I would definitely take photo's of the front of your vehicle (the kind with the date on it). Cover yourself..in these days & times you never know.

  4. Nope! don't worry.  I did the same thing 3 times.  If something

that happens yesterday it shouldn't be a thing.

  5. If nobody stayed at the scene and contacted the police, nothing can happen. Don't worry.

  6. if the cops were not involoved then you have nothing to worry about, since the cops did not show up at the scene of the wreck and take information or anything then they can not scam you
