Can people subscribe to a restricted group by email?

People have tried to do this and I can see the email has been registered in the management (Email commands) section but I get no indication in the members pending section and there seems no way to approved these people. Has this facility been withdrawn or is it just broken.

if your group is restricted membership. when people send the e-mail to the subscribe addy- they get an e-mail back with a link that takes them to your group and to that 'give a reason to join' box. you should be able to see them then as a pending member right on the homepage.

I'm not sure why anyone would send by e-mail and not click the Join This Group tab on the groups homepage.

also keep in mind spam bots will be in your group logs as well and they may appear to you to be a real member trying to subscribe- but they're not and never become a member.

Nope, they have to be invited to the group or added by the owner or moderator of the group.

No, they have to join at the group and fill out the reason they want to join.   or they can get right in by your invitation

They can subscribe via email to your restricted group and become email list only members. They will only receive via email all messages posted to the group and they can only send messages to the group via email. They cannot access your group features.

There would not have been an indication of any pending memberships on your group's site or any email sent to you via Yahoo notifiying you of a pending membership.
