Can people tell me what they think of pickens plain?

I think it is wonderful that someone is taking the initiative on their own to even try to do something. This is an influential man with a lot of money and knows people with money that can make his plan work.  We need more people stepping up with ideas and running with them as i don't think our own government has a clue what to do or how to even start anything new other than to just sit and talk it to death.

Mr. Pickens, is a man that has made a fortune in the oil industry,

and has seen what the damage that the oil industry has done to our environment..

He has also seen an opportunity to make even more money, and that is why he is planning to invest $58 million into alternative energy.

The thing we have to realize is that there are great advancements being made in the alternative energy field.

Already alternative energy provides 1.8% of our nations electricity, with more being installed all of the time.

Build wind turbines to displace fossil fuel electricity.

Then build natural gas power plants to backup the wind turbines for when there is no wind (which will be most of the time).

Then use natural gas that has been somehow displaced by the wind turbines to replace oil for transportation.

Doesn't make any d**n sense (of course not mentioning the need for natural gas power plants to provide backup power makes it seem workable when it is not).

Wind power is a waste of money that could be better spent on nuclear (that won't need fossil fuel backup).

Not until he reveals it. Pickens has spent a lot of money on ads to sell the sizzle. I'm waiting for the steak before I commit.
