  1. so sorry.  frontal brain is affected.  all the things that are held in are yelled out.  I had a student who only yelled out "F---YOU".  We tried to make like he was saying "Thank you" but no one bought it.  It's just something to explain to the class, everyone is different.

  2. No, not really. The attraction is not the word itself but the reaction to it. Since nobody really cares if you shout out "Hello" the Touretter (?? good word though eh!!) does not get the feedback he desires.

Shouting out "****" though suddenly causes heads to swivel and there is instant gratification.

Thats why they say swear words etc. If **** was used properly (as it used to be in Anglo-Saxon English)  then a Touretter wouldn't bother saying it. Likewise if saying "God" out loud carried a social stigma they would say it all the time.

  3. They have to practice and develop a phrase to use instead. Like the one who changed his bad words to the multiplication tables.

    ______________

    complement mean completes

    compliment means a courteous expression

    fowl means a bird

    foul means bad
