  1. No they are draft horses and are way to big and slow, we had some on our farm, nice horses just a little ............slow

  2. any horse can be used for barrell racing, but i wouldnt consider a percheron, the smaller the horse the easier and quicker they move around the barrell, my  arabian pony can get around them quicker and alot easier than my thoroughbred

  3. I defiantly wouldn't think so. Because they are so big they would probably have a ton of trouble with the turns not to mention that they couldn't compete with the speed of the quarterhorses that are typically used.

  4. Any horse can be used for Barrels, the only thing is is that you see the sleeker more hot on their hooves breeds doing it!! =]

I had a horse who couldn't turn and I had another that was bigger and had the turns down like no other...

It completely just depends on the horse, and how you train them. It's not the "breed"...it's the training and work you put into them!

  5. i used to raise clydes, perches and belgians and we always had fun with them by doing barrels and it always helps with their movement but they arent fast and it is like racing a mack truck on a formula one track.my best one was a 18.3 hand clydesdale stud.he wouldnt knock over the barrel he would step over them.most drafts are clutzes and trip over their own feet in tight corners.but if you really want to have fun enter one in barrel racing .you may not win but you will get the biggest cheers from the crowd.
