Can person with history of depression/social anxiety join corrections/ police?

  1. Since each branch of the military and each state's police requirements are different, you'll need to find out specifically from the branches of the military and the state police licensing agencies for the states you are interested in. Good luck.


  2. If a person suffers from depression and or social anxiety they don't want to go in to corrections/law enforcement.

    Prisons are not lined with flowers and candy canes. Their depressing alone with out a CO adding to it. They would be a danger to other CO's and inmates.

    We have to be on our toes at all times to care for ourselves, our co-workers and the inmates. To have to care for a CO with depression on duty....or have social anxiety with inmates walking everywhere around you and your out numbered.

    WOW! Please don't work where I work. I want to go home at the end of the day...alive!!

  3. Yes. That's a disqualifying factor. There's no police agency in the country that would be willing to risk that kind of liability.
